Celebrating the New Year: The RV Atlas talks new jobs, new books, RV shows, and travel plans in 2020

As we ring in the New Year, there’s a lot going on behind the scenes at the RV Atlas–new jobs, new books, RV shows, travel plans, and more! We are closing out 2019 by giving you the full scoop on what’s ahead for the RV Atlas in 2020.

Stephanie’s New Job at Roadtrippers

If you haven’t already heard, Stephanie was recently offered a dreamy job as the Head of Content for Roadtrippers (you can read the press release here). This unexpected offer definitely was too good to pass up. It is the perfect chance for Stephanie to put her skills and experience to use for a company she believes in.

At Roadtrippers, Stephanie will be developing content for the website, for their evolving app, and for their expanding print publication segment. Stephanie’s prior publishing experience will be useful as Roadtrippers moves into the print market with a new series of travel guides. Along with the new position comes a 30% off code for an annual PLUS subscription for all of you folks: RVATLASXRT. See? It’s a win/win!

Luckily, this position allows Stephanie to mainly work from home or from the RV. We won’t have to move (or send Stephanie off to Cincinnati permanently). And, Roadtrippers was fully onboard with us continuing our work with the RV Atlas.

As Stephanie transitions into her new position with Roadtrippers, we’ve had a bit of a renegotiation of our roles at the RV Atlas. Jeremy is taking over more of the behind-the-scenes management. Hopefully, you won’t notice any differences as we evolve!

With these many changes in our lives, we decided to really, truly take January off. We are so lucky that we have been able to continually bring content to the RV Atlas podcast over the years (even the years when we tried to “cut back” at various points of the year). However, as we get into our new groove, it’s time for us to hit the reset button. We will emerge in February refreshed and ready for all that’s ahead.

New Books by Jeremy and Stephanie

We are super happy to have our second book See You at the Campground: A Guide to Discovering Community, Connection, and a Happier Family in the Great Outdoors coming out on March 3, 2020. Preorder your copy today on Amazon. You will definitely be hearing more about this as the publication date approaches.

This book is the culmination of five years of this podcast. We are so proud! Our goal was to create a book that was down-to-earth, honest, and inspiring, and we think we did. We can’t wait to share it with all of you.

And, while we are excited to have sold our third book, we are feeling a little anxious about getting the writing actually done before the manuscript is due on April 1st. Taking a break from the podcast in January will give us time to immerse ourselves in writing, which is something we both truly love. Our third book will be hitting the shelves in spring of 2021. We are eternally grateful to our publisher, Sourcebooks.

RV Atlas 2020: RV Shows

As much as we love writing and podcasting, it is also fun to share our RV advice and experiences in person. RV shows are a great opportunity to do so. This year, we will be presenting at several. Maybe we will come to a town near you!

We are hitting some familiar seminar topics (like how to find the perfect RV and how to maintain it once you do). We try to give straightforward advice that really helps new RVers understand the complexities of RV ownership without totally scaring them away. Also, this year, we are adding some new topics, such as how to plan your first trip and a “Vocab 101” seminar. We will break down a bunch of common words and phrases that get tossed around in the RV world.

Look for us at these upcoming RV shows:

You never know…we just might add more! We go where they send us. We always wish we could get to more places. It’s always terrific to meet our listeners whenever they come out to the shows.

RV Atlas 2020: Travel Plans

Even with all of this on our plates, as well as our kids’ busy lives, we are still filling in that 2020 calendar with plenty of RV travel.

First up will be a spring break trip to North Carolina. Hopefully, we will have good weather, but if not, we will have an indoor pool.

Early summer, we are heading back to Lake Placid and the Adirondacks. The last time we went, we experienced the amazing fall foliage. This time, we hope to fully embrace the lake life with warmer weather.

We aren’t quite ready to spill the beans on our BIG trip. But, just know, it involves flying out to Las Vegas, renting a Class C, and hitting quite a few exciting spots. We can’t wait to tell you all about it once we have all of the details worked out.

Will we get a seasonal site again? Debatable. Will we hit Assateague in the fall again? Probably. Will we rent space on a farm somewhere? Who knows! Dreaming of the possibilities is just part of the fun.

Above all, we want to thank you for another great year. We have enjoyed doing this podcast for the past five years, and we are looking forward to the next five. See you back in February with three shows a week!

See you at the campground,

Stephanie + Jeremy
