Campground Review #95 Shelter Cove Resort and Marina in Crescent, Oregon

Shelter Cove Resort and Marina is a beautiful lake retreat on Lake Odell in Crescent, Oregon. Located about 70 miles from Bend, Oregon and about 70 miles from Crater Lake National Park, Shelter Cove is remote but offers opportunities for great day trips.

Shelter Cove is also located right off the Pacific Crest Trail, and the campground is actually a resupply stop for through hikers. We thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to meet and chat with some of the folks that were stopping over on their Pacific Crest adventure.

Campground Details: Shelter Cove Resort and Marina

Shelter Cove Resort and Marina is a smaller campground with only about 60 RV sites, 8 cabins, a lodge, and a handful of tenting sites. We stayed in the Giant Sequoia Cabin which slept 10 people and would be the perfect lodging for two families looking to vacation together.

Most of the RV sites are back ins with 30/50 amp electric hook ups. There are no sewer hook ups, but there is a dump station available for guests. Some sites are located up near the marina, while others are tucked away in the forest. Check out a campground map before booking to make sure you find a site that suits your particular needs.

Activities and Amenities: Shelter Cove Resort and Marina

The main attraction at Shelter Cove is the beautiful marina, which offers private mooring and a large selection of rental opportunities including SUPs, kayaks, small motorboats, and pontoon boats. There is also a large fish cleaning station at the docks.

The camp store is well-stocked with groceries, toiletries, and fishing supplies. Other activities and amenities include…

  • laundry facilities
  • cable
  • group bonfire events with free s’mores and lemonade

A highlight of our stay was the Hook and Talon restaurant which served breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The food was delicious, particularly breakfast. Breakfast burritos and biscuits and gravy quickly became family favorites.

Regional Attractions near Shelter Cove Resort and Marina

Less than 90 minutes away is the magical Crater Lake National Park, and we highly recommend making the drive to this NPS site even if you only have a few hours to spend there. We particularly enjoyed our brief stop at the Steel Visitor Center for the educational movie. Then we headed up to the Rim Village and did a 2 mile rim hike that let us take in all the amazing iconic views of Crater Lake.

On this visit we did not have the opportunity to visit Bend, but it is an easy drive from Shelter Cove and all the locals raved about what a great destination it is. There is always a next time, right.

See you at the campground,

Stephanie + Jeremy
